Fall Ski Camp Is This Weekend!

Hello DJSR Racers and Parents,

We are super stoked about the upcoming weekend! Our Fall Slalom Training Camp will focus on a fundamental of alpine racing - Fore / Aft Balance. It all starts with the feet, ankles, and knees. We will work on moving the feet back to deliver forward pressure, driving the inside knee forward, maintaining an athletic stance, and moving our center of mass along the length of the ski through the different phases of the turn. Fore/Aft Balance will be the theme for our warm-ups and training drills. Day one will feature a stubbie course and a slalom course, and on day two we will train on mirrored slalom courses with brushes for line cues and compete in a fun dual slalom challenge.

EQUIPMENT: We will be practicing slalom on both days so remember to bring all your cold-weather ski gear, especially your waxed slalom race skis, helmets with chin guards mounted, shin guards, and pole guards. Clear goggles would be best. Make sure you are properly dressed in layers for the cold 28-degree temperature on the snow. There are private changing rooms inside Big Snow locker room.

RACER DROP OFF 5:45 AM: Plan on arriving 5:45 am so that you have time to sign in and gear up for training. The mall will be closed when you arrive. All racers should be dropped off on Level 2 of Parking Lot A. You enter the parking lot on the ground level and will need to drive up 2 levels. Look for the side entrance to Big Snow on the Met Life Stadium side. Walk down the outside corridor and you will find the side entrance to the Big Snow locker room; Therese will be at the door to sign you in. Only racers and coaches are permitted into the Big Snow facility.

PICKUP 9AM same location. Pickup and drop off will require an adult to sign in and sign out - NO EXCEPTIONS

PARKING: American Dream offers convenient parking to all guests. The first hour of parking is free, and after that, it costs only $5 per vehicle (taxes included) for the duration of your visit. When you arrive at American Dream follow the directional signs to Big SNOW and the “A” Parking Deck for the nearest parking to Big SNOW.
